XPRIZE’s latest program to incentivize innovation is going after a new demographic: young people between the ages of 10 and 18 who are up for developing video games that play on the themes of exploration, the environment and social equity.
- “Code Games: A Global Game-Making Challenge” is the first program launched as part of the XPRIZE Connect initiative, which is aimed at democratizing access to learning through technology. Partners in the Code Games challenge include Endless Network and E-Line Media.
- Entrants could win one of multiple $1,000 prizes in the challenge to create original video games or written game design documents. Grand prizes of $2,000 will be awarded to the best games in the Equity, Exploration and Environment topic areas.
- Entry is free, and submissions are due by Oct. 14. Check out the Code Games website for rules and registration. XPRIZE Connect follows up on a host of incentive prize programs including the Ansari X Prize for private-sector spaceflight, the Google Lunar X Prize for moon exploration, the ANA Avatar XPRIZE for telepresence, the Global Learning XPRIZE and the Anu & Naveen Jain Women’s Safety XPRIZE.
